Hey guys, thinking about picking up an 02 tahoe from my buddy as a daily driver for the winter time here. Truck has 155000 miles on it and seems mechanically sound. Has the cold start knock/slap which does concern me. srs light and check engine light is on he said it was for tps. Truck has a cowl hood,intake,exhaust and a few other goodies like a nice stereo system and leather. He is firm on the price of 4000. Do you guys think that is a decent deal? Does the truck stilll have life left in it? His dad was the original owner and then it was passed down to him. I know he drove it hard at times but stilll seems to run good. Help me out with some input guys!!

You could take it to a parts store and have the code(s) ran could possibly be more than a tps. I'd say it still has plenty of life left in it the piston slap seems to be pretty common I wouldn't worry much on that unless its really bad. The 5.3 is very reliable.

03 Denali
Just bought a 03 denali at 131k. Mechanically sound but starts up with the egine knock. Idles moves 200 - 300 rpm till it's warmed up but it will still take off and go.
Over all I like mine. I think if the car fax check out than you should go through. I love mine. Not great gas mpg but not buying it for that.
