I bought some old factory Rallye wheels for mine. I Paid $60 each to have them blasted and powder coated. They did 'em back in gray but added some flake. It was a nice surprise.

Anyone powder coated chrome? It’s probably a bear to get off? I’m thinking of matte grey or wrinkled like Shelby wheels centers with chrome lips. Mine at all chrome now.

The chrome has to be removed first. You’re tasking quite a bit of money between the 2 processes I would think.

Every time I have had wheels coated the original coating had to be blasted regardless.

I did satin on a set of wheels. You could use a light coat of tire shine when cleaning and make them look gloss.

In '06 we sand-blasted the chrome off of Iso-Grips (motorcycle grips, chrome-plated plastic), and powder coated them wrinkle black. They looked good and the chrome came off surprisingly easily. It was about as tough as hosing dirt down the driveway.

Chromed plastic isn’t really the same as chrome on metal.
