Has anyone ever had their chrome wheels sand blasted and powder coated? Mine are starting to crack and peel and showing some surface rust. I was thinking about going with the Black Chrome powder coating.

Ok...You can't have them sand blastered or else your wheels itself are gonna get F'd up and the metal of the actual wheel.

The chrome has to be etched.

If your wheels are chipping already, foreverfalcon40 is correct, having them sandblasted would tear up the chrome really bad. Each wheel would have to be hand sanded. But yes it does work. I've had 3 sets of chrome wheels done over the years and all turned out perfect.

rdhenderson: PM me, I live in Bellingham too and can hook u up with the guy that does mine. Check out my wheels in my album, I just had them coated last wednesday.

just out of curiousity, why couldn't you just blast down to base metal and powdercoat? why keep the chrome layer and p.c. over it? just curious like i said.

your supposed to get them down to baremetal. But using Sand is to course for the metal for powdercoating. keeping the chrome would be a bad idea if you ask me
