My driver's power seat in my 2004 Yukon will only go halfway forward for some reason. The motor actually stops at that point and doesn't try to keep going. And oddly enough whenever I hit my memory seat button it adjusts everything correctly except it moves the seat to the middle of the track. Also at one point the forward and reverse was switched! You would push forward but it would go back and vice versa! I took it to the dealer today and they only looked it over. Unfortunately they couldn't say what exactly it was without looking further into it. But the guy said it's most likely a trigger or sensor coming on early. But he wasn't sure. So does anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing this? Thanks for your help.

I'm searching for a solution to a similar problem. My seat memories go haywire. I save a setting and it does almost everything right, except it pushes the seat all the way forward. And a year or so ago, the seat tilt was reversed; up was down, down was up. Then it fixed itself.

I read around on here a few months back on a thread that mentioned it might be the Body Control Module (BCM), but unfortunately that was a fix that only the dealer could replace to the tune of $600... just in parts! :wtf:

Anyway... I'll do some digging and see if I can find the link to that thread. Luckily it's not hurting the functionality of the seats... I can still manually adjust them. Just an annoyance.

This sounds exactly like my issue. I was afraid it could be the BCM... Have you ever had anything else go haywire with your electrical? And do you by chance have an aftermarket remote starter kit? I've heard that those can really screw with your system. Mine came with one.. Please tell me how you can manually adjust the seat!!! that would make my day!!

I do have an aftermarket remote start kit. Not even sure what brand, but had it installed when I bought it. Hmmm. Wonder if you just kill power to the remote start, if that would fix the issue? Don't know what I'd rather give up: remote start or seat memory!

Had a couple of issues with the HVAC auto fan/temp control that were harwire; unrelated to the seats though. But found out how to fix that here:

Please tell me how you can manually adjust the seat!!! that would make my day!!

When I said manually adjust the seats, I was just talking about the switches on the side of the seat: Forward, Back, Tilt, Recline & Lumbar. As opposed to trusting the seat memory to do its job.

I did find a solution to another seat problem I was having, that should be an easy fix:

Hey I think I found the answer to the problem!

Good News: Not the BCM

Bad News: Still have to take it to the dealer.

According the the recall notice, replacing the seat memory module would not fix it, because a software anomaly already exists. It has to be reprogrammed with an update. Anyway... hope this helps.

No problem! Let me know what your dealer says. I'm curious how much they charge for the fix.

I FINALLY got around to getting this fixed today! Only took about two years!

I scheduled an appointment with my dealer and I only briefly described the problem to them and they seemed to know exactly what it was. Cost $125 and about an hour and a half of waiting.

NICE!

Well I haven't gotten mine fixed yet either. Only accumulated more problems... now I have a short in one of the 100-or-so wires coming from one of the power seats that keeps blowing the fuse. 50a fuse under the hood has driver/passenger power seats AND passenger side windows all on the same circuit. And it's $5 a pop for that fuse.

So to adjust any of those things, I have to pop the hood, put an alligator clip on the fuse terminals to complete the circuit, adjust the seats, then pull the alligator clip off and close the hood. Such a PITA. Just need a weekend with no kids around to tear the carpet and dash apart and find the short. Spare time is in short supply these days.

:rage:
