power steering problem....

While backing up a camper, our power steering went out.. The shaft broke off the power steering pump on 2002 yukon xl... We replaced it with a new one and the new one worked for like 3 seconds and broke in the same place. Not sure what the problem is now... any thoughts would be appreciated..

Not uncommon to break a shaft i none of these pumps. I'd guess the second one was just bad. Maybe a reman pump with an original shaft that was just barely good enough to pass QA?
