So my PPV came with what looks to be just helper bags. The Schrader valve is located under the fuel door. If I wanted to lower my Tahoe, what are my best options. Am I a candidate for the TBSS rear swap?

You mean the TBSS rear bags? You have to remove your currently installed rear springs and look at the upper spring perch on both sides to make sure it has the center pilot hole and the three little notches surrounding it. These three little notches are what the TBSS rear bags use to mount. If you have them, then there's no reason why you couldn't use the bags out of a TBSS. What's your end goal? Getting the truck to sit lower all around, or just in the rear?

ETA: I wonder why someone installed helper bags in your rear PPV springs? They couldn't have needed them for towing because the PPV's don't come with a trailer hitch installed unless the previous owner installed one. Or maybe they used the truck to carry serious amounts of weight in the back? Who knows... Anyway, I'd love to come across a used PPV in great shape with low miles just to keep the miles off my Suburban and use the PPV as my daily beater. Plus, I've always liked them. Especially if they're either black or white. Preferably black. I just think they have a super clean and bad ass look to them!

My 07 has the provisions for the TBSS bags, I don't see why your 08 wouldn't have them.

Curious as to why your PPV has helper bags to.
I'm with you Clean, that's why I got one.

Our 2010 PPV came with a factory receiver, but it looks like it was never used. I bet he has a hitch, and the PO used it. NorCal SS speced out a 2/3 drop kit for our Tahoe. Prob the same would work for you. I just have to place the order.

Interesting...I was under the impression that non of the PPV's were equipped with hitches. I wonder if yours came from GM this way, or if it was added by the department or whoever owned it prior to you?

Also, when you say that "NORCAL SS spec'd out a 2/3 kit for our Tahoe", do you mean specifically for the PPV's? I don't see why any 2/3 kit for a standard Tahoe wouldn't work? All suspension components are interchangeable from civilian models to PPV's, so any drop kit would work unless there's something I'm missing.

That is what I was lead to think, too, but I've seen more NNBS PPVS with receiver hitches, than without. Ours came with one, and just about every one I looked at had one. Since it appears that the one on ours has never been used, I suspect they were OEM.

Yes, it is one of his standard 2/3 drop kits. Thanks.

Okay, I knew the drop kits would be the same.

As far as the hitches being on a lot of PPV's, I'm surprised by that. I never knew any were factory equipped with hitches unless special ordered that way. Interesting, learn something new every day!

ETA: There's a guy with a video posted on YouTube stating that his PPV didn't come with a hitch, but Reese, Valley, Curt, or one of the more well known hitch companies makes a hitch specifically for adding to a non-equipped PPV. I thought this was odd, because even the PPV's without the hitches have the rectangular hole in the rear bumper cover where the receiver tube would normally be visible. Not sure why they make a "special" hitch just for the PPV? I don't understand why any NNBS Tahoe hitch wouldn't work on a PPV. It was kind of weird. If I find the video I'll post a link.

Okay, here we go, @CrashTestDummy. Check out the video in this YouTube link I'm posting. This guy answers my question as to why someone makes a hitch specifically for certain PPV's. Yours must be different than his, but watch the video. Its kinda weird what GM did to the back of some of the PPV's. You see why after watching the video. Is your hitch below the bumper like his or like a regular Tahoe and comes out through the hole in the bumper?

Maybe the newer model PPVs are being equipped with hitches now. It could also be a department issue to, I guess. I know the PPVs around here do not have any hitches.

I found mine hitch on carparts, paid just at 200 for it shipped to my door. They are referred to as rebars, not sure why. Something doesn't seem right about the curt hitch.
I'm not quite sure I'd trust it towing 6k pounds.

From what I understand, the PPVs come with a 2/2 drop, correct?
I'd want more than a 2/3, especially if PPVs already come with a 2/2 drop.

My buddy had a PPV also. His also has helper bags. His valve was installed on the rear bumper though. Very ugly. But my guess for the helper bags would have to be due to the large steel storage bin. Mine still had it along with the cage. It took alot of work for my wife and I to pull it out due to the size and weight. If it was that heavy empty I can only imagine when it's loaded up. And yes, I'm just looking for an all around lower stance.

It makes sense to have the bags, especially with what's loaded up in these SUVs.
I almost bought one with the cage and box but my wife said NO, haha.

I'd definitely give Tony a buzz. He'd hook you up with everything you'd need for nice drop.
