bcm x1 connector (say's it is the light green one) pin #23, see attached photo from gm upfitter guide
that pin would need a momentary ground after the key is in the run position, each time the key is cycled you would need to do a momentary ground just like as if it was on the shift handle.

I'll try this on a button switch rather than change the shifter, thanks

Yea by reading the little bit of this thread it seems like a lot of functionality with the GEN3 GMT400 is there in the wiring harness (exceptions are heated seats, NAV/BOSE audio, and a few other things) and they are pretty much "plug and play"! I think that the TOW bottom when pushed either locks or unlocks the torque convertor? I like using the buttons when passing people on two lane roads to "set" the tranny where I want it since the TCM is junk in the GMT400s
