Finally getting my tune from BBP and want to get some things done to her for maximum performance out of her engine. I'll be doing plugs and wires (ac delco) cleaning air filter, and will also be changing out fuel filter. Haven't changed it in the three years I've owned her. So my questions are, what brand fuel filter and what other things should I change or check while I'm doing this maintenance. Thanks in advance.

What year is your truck? I forget what year they started putting the filter in the fuel tank. I think it was 03. On the years they still had an external filter it was located on the inside frame rail on the driver side around the middle of the truck. If it`s not there yours is in the tank and are meant to last the life of the pump.

The other things i did in prep for my BB tune i cleaned out my throttle body and cleaned the MAF.

It's an 02 and thanks for the info, I'll check the underside to see if it's there. I'll clean the throttle body and the MAF, I just spray it down with the cleaner right?

To clean the throttle body i use carb and choke cleaner. I open the blade and spray a little in and use a rag to wipe it clean. Reach in and clean all the way around top and bottom and the back of the throttle blade. It should be pretty black in there especially if it`s never been done. I just cleaned mine on saturday for the first time in like 6-7 months and it was black.

To clean the MAF remove it from the truck and spray it down only with MAF cleaner. Never reach in and touch the wires. Spray down the honeycomb too, The first time i did it there was some dirt in there. I could see it dripping out when i sprayed it.

What type of tune are you getting? Remember to have premium gas in the tank if you are getting the 91 tune........

Thanks again for the info Ted. I cleaned the throttle body in the summer when i installed my intake and it was pretty dirty but never did the MAF.
J, don't really know which tune to go with 87 octane tune or 91. If it makes a huge difference I don't mind getting the 91 ocatane tune. What other types of tunes are there?

Those are your 2 choices....you can have Justin do a 'Sport' mode with your tow/haul button...some people call it the haul-ass button. He can explain it better on the day of. You get a little more repsonsiveness with the 91 tune but will pay for it at the pump. I opted for the 91 tune and left my tow/haul button alone because I tow frequently during the summer. I don't mind paying a little extra at the pump for the improved MPG's and performance plus mine is not a DD. I get around 16ish in the city and 22ish on the highway. Basically if you are debating on the 91 tune....have at lest 1/2 tank mixture of premium or all premium on the day of the tune so Justin can do a more accurate tune for ya......:Handshake:

Thanks J, I wish mine wasn't a daily but sadly it is so gas may be a factor. I dont tow anything with mine and aside from being a daily it's the family rv for our trips to Florida. I may do something with the "haul-ass" button since mine doesn't get touched. Thanks again for the info. One more thing, I'll be lowering it soon will that matter with the tune?
