The previous owner either backed into something, or someone else ran into the back of my Yukon.

The underside is interesting. This is a picture of where the receiver mounts to the frame. It's missing two bolts. It's also crooked - do you think the receiver itself is damaged or (cringe) that the frame might be bent? Good thing I noticed this before I went ahead and tried to pull something.

WOW, that is a good thing you caught that!
I am not an autobody guy, but it looks like the impact sheared the bolts. I doubt it bent the frame, I think you will usually see it buckle if it bends. If the hitch lines, up get the right bolts and bolt her back up, or find a new hitch at the junk yard. Actually some of the guys around here remove them for looks, one of your fellow members might set up for a good price.

I'll definitely go ahead and replace it - just don't want to take any chances... when I take it off, I'll make sure the frame is fine. My uneducated guess would be that the frame should be fine... I would think that if the frame was actually damaged, the receiver and bumper would be in much worse of shape... does that make sense?

If it hadn't of been for the bent/damaged part that holds the trailer wiring I probably wouldn't have even looked. I am thinking about doing some exhaust work and so I got up underneath the Yukon and that's how I noticed it.

Yes, I think you are right, the bumper would be pretty bad, and the body mounts would most likely be deformed and/or the quarter panel would buckle. I had a 82 TA that was completely ass-rammed; the frame buckled a little, but the quarter was buckled and the bumper/taillights were nearly nonexistent.
