2008 Yukon Denali

I have a problem with the rear fold up seat in my Denali. When I fold it up to get access to the third row it operates correctly. But after slamming the seat back into the brackets on the floor, the seat back will not go back up. Dealer wants a fortune just to rip it apart and investigate. Can anyone help?

I had this very same issue and figured it out and fixed it myself. The reason your seat back will not go up is your seat bottom is not latched fully in one of the D rings. The reason you have to slam it down is the D rings are not level and don't match up with the seat latch mechanisms correctly so by slamming it down you actually twist the seat bottom a little to get both brackets to latch.

Here is a post where someone else had the same problem and my fix. The fix is to add a metal shim(s) under the metal seat mounting bracket just under the D ring that is lower and not mateing with the latch properly. I used large washers as shims. You can put them on a bolt if you want to unbolt the entire seat mounting bracket but I just loosened one or two bolts and slid them under the bracket. GM knows of the problem so your dealer could fix it and it shouldn't cost big bucks.
