So I Bought Another Pair Of OEM Headlights For The Wifes Tahoe Because I Wanted To Paint The Housing White (Color Match) And I Literally Couldnt Even Pry A Corner Not Even A Lil.
Stripped Everything Off Headlights
I Pre Heated Over To 200*
Stuck One Headlight In For 5 Min.
Took Out Tried Prying Corners And Middle And Didnt Budge
So I Threw it Back in Oven For Another 5min
Tried Again And Nothing
Threw It In Oven For 5 More Min
Took Out ANd Still Couldnt Even Get It To Budge
Ended Up Saying F**K IT, Thats Why Im On Here To Figure Out What I Did Wrong, Also Ended Up Breaking All The Lil Tabs You Have To Pry up On That Help Hold The Lens To The Housing
So What Did I Do Wrong?? :Frustrated:
thanks

It's next to impossible to open those without breaking them, they are permasealed.

That's why most folks who do internal headlamp modifications buy aftermarket oem clone housings.

Here, this might help: http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/showthread.php?37526-Perma-Seal-Headlight-Removal-Process

Btw, heat and patience is unlikely to work in these headlamps, I have yet to witness someone open them successfully ... so it's dremel or bust.

I open headlights a lot when installing halos and I Put them in for 10 minutes at 275, It would be my guess that you didn't heat them up enough for long enough

Not all headlights come apart when heated. I have never tried the Tahoe ones but I have taken apart other where they needed to be cut on the seam. A real pain in the ass and very difficult to get it looking clean.

Well first of all if you dremel they of course are going to be a lot harder to seal because the seam wont interlock so to speak.

However siliconing is but the last step in sealing headlamps. First you have to use something like this: http://www.theretrofitsource.com/product_info.php?cPath=31&products_id=792

Clamp the cover to the back tight for an hour or two so that they adhere, and then silicone around the seam to prevent moisture.

It still is going to be touch and go as to whether you closed them well enough to prevent air/moisture from getting in, but this is going to be your best strategy if you insist on using oem housings.

Oh, and be prepared for a massive amount of dust getting everywhere. I'd try to do this on a Korean barbecue restaurant table if I were you (turn grille off) ... they gots good extractor fans on those babies. :)

the reason im wanting to use oem, is becuase i really dont want projectors, i had some on my08 silverado and light out put sucked even with hids, but also thought about these lights................
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2007-2011-C...rolet|Model:Tahoe&hash=item46077bb829&vxp=mtr
and just not run the projector part and just have my headlight in the high beam area you think this would work?? and i would just seperate this housing and color match it as well
