On my way home from work my stock head unit started cutting out. The display would turn off and the sound would cut out but all the lights on the buttons stayed on. The only buttons that would work were the p.type, which would show the time for about 5 secs and then turn off, and the eject cd button. This would happen for happen every at random times in random intervals. Occasionally it would say LOCKED when it would cut out.

Anybody know of a possible fix to this, or is it time to go for a new head unit?

Its your truck telling you to upgrade :)

But my first try would be to pull the unit and check for loose wires on the back harness
