While any HID added aftermarket is technically a no-no, adding projectors is the best attempt to minimize any problems. The regular headlamps are not designed for lights as bright as HIDs, ESPECIALLY the 55watt ones.

Most people put HIDs in the factory housings and claim that they don't cause blindness because they don't get flashed but I have seen many vehicles that are blinding that I didn't flash because at the end of the day they're not going to do anything about it.

I would say yes add the projectors as a common decentsy to other drivers. They look cool anyways so it's just an excuse to add more bling!!

These new Tahoes don't have much more glare over stock when HIDs are used with 35W 6k, 5k or 4500k kits.
I have got flashed like twice since I got mine two months from a year ago.
Many cops have seen it too, never said a word, talkless of pulled me over.

BTW, the Yukon have alot more glare than the Tahoes when HIDs are added. Mainly because of their big and very reflctive single bulb housings.

It depends on your definition of "need"? The stock 07+ Tahoe light housings have a decent light pattern and little glare with 35W HIDs. Although I did have to aim them down a little (wife drove behind me so I could assess), but it was because I installed a level kit.

Of course the cut off of the stock versus projector are not even close. I have not seen any true aftermarket HID projectors for the NNBS. If you find some, post them up.

I am not sure how the 55W HIDs are though. Just as a courtesy, aim them down so the cut off is lower then the side mirrors of a passenger car.

SAVE YOUR MONEY! Ive had my HIDs in my headlights and fog lights for a while, NO PROBLEMS! NO GLARE! NO BS! As long as you buy the correct bulb type your plug and play and before you know it you have an amazingly new look to your headlights. Dont listen to all that scientific stuff about the light beams and and the glare and all that technical stuff, although some of it is correct! It is all on the scientific side which is almost not even visible to the naked eye unless your running some kind of experiment....just my .02 cents

Thanks for the input guys. I've had them in for a few days and havent been flashed. I had them aimed extra low to compensate for the leveling kit. I haven't been able to find a decent projector setup anyway. They look awsome though

"Stand back, I'm a scientist!" Since it's halloween, just a little quote from Ghostbusters.

Sorry couldn't help myself :laughing1:!

What HID bulbs are you guys using for the 07+ fog lights? Any melting of the housing or lens?

no, you dont need them.
projectors are just a luxury of looking good.

your stock housing will do fine and will have most probably a focused beam of light, (as in, bright in front, less bright on the sides)

a projector lens is basically a big magnifying glass for a bulb and spreads the light evenly, newer projectors keep the light less than 4 ft. off the ground at a 25 ft. distance for safety issues, blinding, etc..

dont worry about it.
