I ran a wire from the interior light circuit thru each door harness/grommet up to the mirror harness
the puddle light wire is orange/black which is found on the harness going from the door switch to the mirror, so you have to take the door panels off to get to it
you only have to run a single wire to each mirror, the ground is constant already. If i remember correctly there are 2 orange/black wires on the mirror harness and the one you want to use is the one in the middle of the harness connector the other one is on a outside edge corner.

Ok good , I may wait until it is not 95 outside (101 in my garage,ha) I have had the door panels off a couple of times, so no sweat. I just need to find a good spot to tie into the interior light circuit. Thanks for your help

there is a kickpanel down by your left foot with a black cover on it that pops off, the interior light circuit can be accessed there, I don't recall the wire color but I am thinking pink, there is a diagram on the gm upfitter website. I used the same circuit to run some blue led strips under the truck when the doors are open

Appreciate it.

I have a viper alarm also, I ended up just hard wiring the puddle lights to the interior lights, the viper will turn on the interior lights so the puddle lights come as well, or whenever the door is opened.
I'm back with questions about your puddle lights. I was starting my project today ( even though its 95 outside Grrr) I started at the puddle light housing to make sure what color the power wire was,(assuming that the ground would be black) well both wires going to the housing were white with red stripe. I know I'm a novias when it comes to wiring but where did you tie into the interior lighting wiring ? I know where the fuse is for the dome lights and it is easy to get to. I can use one of those nifty connectors at the fuse to attach the power wire , but is that all I need to do to make this ***** work? I could get my head around one wire being a ground and the other power, but both wires being power has me thinking. I needing some help buddy.

I attached one wire near the door switch on the harness, one of the red/white wires you mentioned (appeared to be more pink/white to me) is near the center of the harness and one is on a corner, the one nearest the center is positive.

Here is the puddle light housing , it has the two pink (orange, what ever)/white wires coming to it. There is not a ground wire and the housing is not ground , still trying to make sense of it. I should be able to take one of the pink/white wires and connect it to the 15 amp fuse that controls the dome light, so the puddle light would then be getting its power from the dome light. I am going to take the door panel off to see if the puddle is grounded somewhere on the door , before I start connecting anything.

it's not grounded that way, it's grounded thru the bcm, you only need to connect the one wire I explained previously. which is the one that is in the center portion of the harness near the door switch (same color wire).

This may sound like a stupid answer, I do not see a door switch. any car/truck i have ever had you could see the switch. What am I missing
