I have a 2011 Tahoe and would like to know, when do the puddle lights come on? When I had my 2002 Tahoe, I think they came on all the time when opening and closing the door. On the"11 I haven't seen it once or am I missing something.

I believe they come on at night when you hit the unlock remote to see your way into the truck, and when you take the key off the ignition to see your way out.

Side note ... this is one of the many reason I've always maintained women should be made with puddle lights standard.

Serge is correct when they come on but if you have an aftermarket alarm then chances are they dont work anymore.

I have a VIPER 5901 and the lights dont work but if I unlock with factory key fob then they come on. I did some research and think there might be a way to fix it but need to talk to Directed and see how the wiring can be changed to fix.

Btw, I checked last night and they don't come on when you take the key out of the ignition ... so it seems the only time they come on is when you remote unlock the vehicle as you approach it at night.

I wanted to add that I went back to my car shop and a guy that really knows his shit and he made them work, even with my alarm. Not sure exactly how he did it but it can be done.

He said something about the puddle lights not having anything to do with the parking lights. The parking lights run on a data signal and that can be read by the Viper module. The puddle lights are not run from a data signal but a manual signal. He had to splice into the puddle light wire and run it to the viper module. It took about an hour for him to do because you have to do both doors. I think he also used a diode and resistor to make sure not to fry anything. I forgot that I had bought LED's for those lights and now they are back working and look great!

I have been wanting to have the puddle lights work with my 5901. I'd appreciate the phone number of your Tech. Thanks, Al W.
