I changed my thermostat but the temp still rises in traffic. I filled it with the heat on and on an angle. Any other ways to burp it?

unknown at this time.
After several complete engine cold and hot cycles any air would have been expelled as long as your reservoir is at its proper fluid level. If you have a mechanical fan your clutch may be giving out and not tightening its grip on the pulley which should make your fan sound louder when it see's the air temperature thru the radiator get too hot. You should also have a loud fan for a little bit when you first start the truck after it has been sitting all day or night.

Thanks... I have dual electric fans, and they are both working. I had a defective thermostat, that I took out on a temporary basis, and it still would ocerheat when I was in heavy traffic. Since the new thermostat, it has been better, but it will still climb in heavy traffic. I replaced the water pump a few years ago when some other maintenance was done. I still have the original one, maybe I will swap it out to see of the water pump is bad. As for the head gasket, I will look into it, but I have not seen anything in the oil.

Thanks again for the help.
