I have the Bose stereo with satellite radio and OnStar. I'm looking to buy a new headunit with built in GPS and is satellite ready.

Question is if I get that headunit, will the factory satellite radio work with the aftermarket unit? Will I be able to connect the satellite antenna to the unit? If not, can the new antenna be put exactly where the factory one is? On my Yukon, the OnStar and satellite radio antennas are separate. Thanks for any help.

The factory XM tuner will only work with the factory radio.

Does the new unit have an XM/Sirius tuner, or is it just satellite ready?

The new units state they are satellite ready. I'm looking into the DD units like the Kenwood 6160, 6180, 6980, etc.

Would I be able to replace my non-navigation headunit to a factory navigation headunit from another Yukon? Would everything work ok? Need any new wiring harnesses?

If you get a unit with an XM/Sirius tuner built in you will be able to use your existing satellite antenna ... I'm pretty sure it's a universal connection back there, but even if it isn't you just have to change the tip.

If you replace your head unit with a nav that was in another vehicle, I believe you have to take it to the dealer to reprogram your vin so that the unit doesn't go into 'stolen' mode and shut down. :waytogo:

Oh, and if the unit is 'xm ready' then most brands have a tuner that you can buy along with the unit. For example Pioneer has this guy: http://www.buy.com/prod/pioneer-ele...er/q/sellerid/14729380/loc/111/202778315.html and it should connect into your existing antenna.
