Me and my friend want to split the cost of an autocal unit, I have a 2007 Tahoe with a 5.3 and he has a 2010 Silverado with a 5.3. First, is this possible? About haw much will it cast, I know the autocal is like $550, but is there anything else we will need? We were both going to do the in person tune but if we split it it only $275 a person about and we can change our tune whenever we want to see what we like best. Please let me know if this will be possible or any problems this might cause. Thanks

The AutoCal is indeed $549 and that includes a tune for one vehicle. There are licenses available to be purchased for additional vehicles. We waive the license fee for you, and just charge the cost of the cable tune ($300) for the additional vehicles.

If I decide to do the in person tune, I know it will make the engine produce more power but will it improve mpgs? Is there a way to make it stay in 4 cyl mode longer, like when on interstate in cruse control around 70? Are there different kinds of tunes like power>economy or economy>power? I'm taking it on a few trips this summer and I'd like to get decent mileage, yes I know its a big truck and mpgs wont be great but I know the engine is capable of being in 4 cyl mode cruising around 70. Also If I go with the in person tune, I read somewhere that someone made the tow button a sport button, so could I do that but when its off make it more economical? Thanks for the help, I don't know much about tunes.

I can answer this... It will improve MPG, but one of the best ways to improve that is to watch your foot. You can choose how aggressive to make your tune. The great part about the autocal is you can always switch between an economy tune and a performance tune in under a minute.
