I just did an exhaust with longtubes. shorty's in my opinion are nothing really. Just a better looking exhaust manifold to me. BBC is code for Big Block Chevy. example 454ci. 502ci. I love my new set of pacesetter armorcoated headers. Be careful if you get longtubes lots of modifications, and work to be done.

Big block chevy. 454 swap for all the torque you want.

Headers are going to help with horsepower, but if you need torque there isn't much you can bolt onto the engine that is going to make a huge difference.

I'd go with a stroker kit and a better cam if you need the torque.

Ahhhh...Big Block Chevy!! Got it! :)
Thanks for the help....anyone have a cam choice that you have done and like?
Also...if I do go the cam route...anything else need or should be done to the engine to compliment the new cam?

My 99 Tahoe feels like it's got pretty good amount of power for a stock daily driver, especially for being a big SUV. Doing a computer tun up can give you more power, I might do that to mine also just because you can. On an episode of Stuntbusters they did a computer tune up on a 2000 - 2006 Denali with a LS engine & it made an impressive difference in power.

But if your gonna do an engine swap man up, go with the other lighter & more powerful BBC.

Big Block Cadillac

My stock 70 Cadillac 500 cid from the factory put out 400 horse power & 550 foot pounds of toque. Mine is no longer stock. I get asked a lot if it's got a big block Chevy because the lumpy idle from the cam, but no it's a bigger gas guzzling big block Cadillac. I can do a rolling burn out between 25 - 30 mph. Not bad for a car that weighs almost 5,000 lbs. Down side is from the 10:1 compression she has to run on premium unleaded & gets 7 1/2 - 9 mpg.

A properly sized turbo would add loads of torque. Get a Comp Turbo oil less turbo, mount it at the Y and run a small intercooler with 5-8psi and you'll have the power of a big block, small block economy when out of boost and if sized right (on the smaller size) fast spool with great power. The Comp Turbo are self contained and perfect for a remote mount because there's no oil pump or plumbing to worry about failing.
