I am thinking about getting a 2007-2008 Tahoe LTZ or a Yukon Denali next summer. But I need to get some info to help make my decision on which one I want. My wife has a Tahoe and we tow our 23' Yamaha wakeboard boat that is 6,000 lbs loaded. The Tahoe tows the boat great and we also take it off road, well as much as she will let me LOL.

I was wondering with the AWD how does the Denali tow and has anyone ever taken it off road and if so how did the AWD do?

I have never owned a AWD truck before; I am use to having to shift from 2wd to 4wd.

Any input would be great on this subject.

Thank you for your time and help.

I know there is an issue with AWD when it comes to snow chains. From what I remeber reading you can not install snow chains on the AWD setup. You can on the 4WD setup but not the AWD. I don't know if that's a concern for you. It's definitly not a concern of mine where I live.

Well we go to the snow with the kids at times, so that might be an issue. I will see what I can find out about the AWD and snow chains.

Thank you for the info.

How is the Denali on towing with the AWD and drive on the road and through the mud?
On the road the denali is great. rides smooth, has plenty of passing power, and the 6.2 accelerates quickly for such a large truck. As far as towing and going off road, i didn't have mine long enough to do any of that stuff.

def. go with the denali... the 6.2 with the 6spd tranny should be reason enough. also IMO the AWD is better in the snow than 4WD (with the awd in my denali you can floor it and it will find traction by switching the power around from the slipping wheels and with the 4wd on my old silverado it just goes and the rear slides left and right with power switching between the front two wheels... HUGE difference and in massachusetts it matters) even in the rain the awd makes it a lot safer, unless in the LTZ you drive around in 4wd all the time, lol.

I tow two heavy motorcycles with a 7x14 tandem full enclosed trailer and i dont even know i have the trailer hooked up and the 6 spd is awsome on the highway, never driven the LTZ but the denali is real quiet and smooth on the highway... both awsome trucks, but the 6.2 and 6spd/awd made it for me, i actually like the way the LTZ looks a little better

I love my 07 Denali, we do not get much snow down here in SC but we got 8 inches this past winter and the AWD worked great. I punched it a few times and the Denali stayed right on track and also good in the mud. We took the kids to a carnival and the parking was in a field and alot of cars got stuck trying to get out but the AWD Denalai went right throught it no problem!

I'd choose the AWD Denali as well. More power, more options, better resale later as well.

Before I lowered mine I towed my friends 36ft Apache with my AWD Denali and it did just fine.......the only problem was the breaking sucked with that heavy ass boat behind my truck with baby rotors!!!!!!
