Question for you Backup cam(Monitor) pros...

I just finished installing a backup camera on my 2001 Yukon. (installed 3.5 monitor in OnStar cubby hole)... I wired the camera & Monitor to the reverse wire. All works great.

One issue, I mounted the monitor upside down because that is the way it fit best, the monitor has a rotate screen option, so I was able to rotate the picture so it is right-side up.
The problem is that every time The monitor turns off by either putting the truck in drive or turning the truck off... The next time the camera turns on, it is upside down again. Seems as if the monitor is not holding the settings, could this be because I need a constant power to the monitor and can't install thru back up wire???

Any suggestions on how to rectify?

Yes it would need a constant power to keep settings

Is there still a way I could wire it constant but still have it only turn on with reverse lights?? I'm not an electrical guru by any means...

What is the wiring on the monitor

It has a Positive (connected to green reverse wire in A-Pillar) and a Ground (connected to stereo ground wire) and a video cable going to camera. Camera is wired (Positive to reverse wire and Ground to the frame)

You can't do it unless you are willing to turn the screen on and off

To answer your question I would make get the monitor to fit right side up rather than wire to constant power. That area of the dash is all plastic. Use a dremel to remove material or make a bracket. You got this far so I know you have skills. Nice work.

That's what I ended up doing, I actually like it a lot more. The monitor isn't flush to the bezel but I think it looks much cleaner this way. I plan to wire in a 3-way switch so I can turn the monitor on while driving.
