Hi everyone,

My first post after searching around for a bit, my truck info:

1999 Tahoe LT 4x4

Now I haven't checked to see what transfer case I have (or color of fluid...?) but when I bought the truck (Cheap) I noticed it was a 4x4 model but was missing the front driveshaft. The fuse was pulled for the 4x4 service and I placed one in to see if i had any kind of ses light or 4x4 service light. After doing so no light came on the dash and pressing the 4x4 buttons i can here I can assume is relays clicking. I went to local junk yards and was not sure if the driveshafts are different throughout the years...

So my question is, are the driveshafts different from other years and models?
I see alot of z71s trucks...

Any info is appreciated!

if you have the switch panel that says auto4wd then you have the np246 automatic/ selectable 4wd system . that tcase uses autotrac2 fluid which is blue. for that system any have ton 1998 to 1999 1/2 ton truck, burb or tahoe can donate its driveshaft to yours. if your pushbutton switch does not say auto and has only 3 selections you have the np243 tcase which uses dexron 3. same vehicle again but from 1996 to 1997.

doe your dash 4x4 light at least come on briefly when key is turn to on then go out or just not come on at all period?

I have the 4 button push switch that says auto4wd, when I turn on the truck no lights come on the switch, I had my driver side door open and can hear the solenoids engage between 4lo and auto and same with 2hi and 4hi while its parked...

Theres something different about the autotrac shaft. Thats why you have to order a different one if you do a lift. No the case with the regular transfer case.
