I have never done this with one of my vehicles, only on several off road cars.

We would re-set the computer by disconnecting both the positive and negative battery cable and then would hold them together for several seconds. It is a sure way to drain ANY remaining power out of the system.

Give it a shot.

it just doesnt make sense to me that I install a new sensor. it works fine for a day and then all the same problems start. as soon as i disconnect the sensor the truck runs fine.

A legit aftermarket intake you'll still have to use the maf k&n. all the real name brand ones. You need maf bc everything is ran off sensors and electrics now a days if your maf is off your air flow to the throttle body is going to be off. Causing the fuel flow to be off to and just cause problems left and right. If anything you need to plug it back in and take to a shop and have them do it. Keeping it off will cause more problems in long run bc one sensor out will throw everything off. Kinda like dominos knock one over many more will follow behind it. But these ls motors are pretty easy to work on so if you do take to shop shouldn't really be to expensive

Your computer takes a while to relearn. With it disconnected it runs in 'fail safe' or limp mode. It basically runs off a pre-determined map calcuating barometric pressure, throttle position and requested load to have a best guess on fuel mixture with out a MAF detected.

When you connect a new MAF and it stalls out I woul first check and make sure your connections are good as far as electrical and air/vacuum, if it keep up you might have a bad MAF out of the box. Install it with the battery disco'd then reco the batt and try to start it. If it keeps up and everything seems right then you have a bad one.

Should only take like 10 min max for the computer to clear a soft code.

One more question with this F*&%ing sensor. There is a little post with a fan in the air tube. the post has a hook that feeds into the MAF. what is this? should i just remove this or does it some how help push air into the engine?
