Quick question about adding DIC (drivers information center)

I wanna order the parts I need to add the DIC to my Tahoe...It is my understanding that everyone has the harness just some trucks don't have the switch? I would check and see if mine has the harness but I'm in Tennessee right now so I'm not with my truck..Now should I just be getting the switch and putting it into the location of the first picture? Or getting the whole little kit with the trim piece and button that goes on the left side of the steering wheel like in the second picture?

I think the one on the bottom is only for the pickup trucks. Their dashes are different. You need the one on the top. You'll probably need to wood trim too with the hole in it for the switch.

Okay that's what I thought...I'll probably just dremel out the hole for it and if it doesn't look 100% clean then I'll get the wood grain trim and paint it

I'm not sure it's really worth all the effort involved.

Knowing how GM does things with these NNBS trucks it's almost never as simple as swapping dash trim bits and plugging in the harness. You'll likely have to find a dealer who knows how to, and is willing to reprogram the BCM for all the related RPOs. Keep in mind that few if any would have had to do this before.

I mean I'm just guessing here, but the only way to really know is to start throwing parts and money at it and see what more is needed at each juncture.

On a side note, I saw on another thread that you don't want the PPV suspension package, and now you want to add the DIC ... wouldn't it have been a lot simpler, and probably cheaper to buy an LS or LT which would look the same but would have the features you desire?

As far as I can recall, any vehicle that has the dash in the first photo (AN3 or A95 bucket front seats) will already have the DIC switches... Any vehicle that doesn't have that will have the wiring hiding behind the blank panel on the drivers side.. I've only replaced them on Sierras, but it's always been plug and play...

Which dash do you have? Pics?

cheaper lmao Not for the price and mileage I got my truck for....This isn't a must have, its a something I would like to have... My truck is equipped with almost every option an LT has and has a lot more than the basic ass LS's had that the dealer was finding for me I have zero regret about the Tahoe I bought I love it...Who on here buys one of these trucks 100% the way they like it and never does anything to it lol

Heres a pic of my dash..Best one I have at the moment so idk if it helps much but here it is....A95 is in my build codes also

I didn't mean to offend you, but you obviously have an already highly modified/optioned PPV if your truck has more options than a, as you call it, 'basic ass ls.' Off the factory, the LS even in its most basic trim has a LOT more standard options than a PPV, too many to start listing, hence their difference in base price. Really the only options exclusive to the PPV is the lowering/handling package (which you're looking to remove), and I think a stronger tranny cooler, and maybe a second battery. Other than those options a PPV, unlike yours, is a stripped down Tahoe LS.

Anyhoot, hopefully the switches will plug and play for you without any additional programming.

No offense taken :beer:, just basically trying to say that I know that my truck isn't the most fully loaded thing out there, but for what I spent and could spend it was perfect....It doesn't really matter and I don't wanna drag it on too much longer but compared to the LSs I was looking at I can't really think of anything in particular that mine doesn't have. I'm sure to someone with a fully loaded 2012 escalade mine seems like a dodge neon in comparison :roflsquared:

and in that picture the spot that your talking about it the one to the right of steering wheel and left of the center vents correct?

Yeah, I went back and looked at more pics of your truck and it basically looks like an LT1 without a roof rack and with a drop. The PPVs have no door moldings, no center console or arm rest, cloth front and plastic rear seats, no carpeting, no nothing really. If it wasn't for the drop kit I'd have mistaken your Hoe for an LS/LT/or maybe SSV. Must have been owned by a fancy detective type. :)

Ok sweet, if its plug and play that should be a piece of cake to dremel out.

And yea I think I just said this in one of my other threads lol but basically what happened was it was manufactured to be an undercover PPV along with about 20 others that were going to a city who lost funding for them before they even got there...So they went back through the factory and had basically all the features of an LT added. The guy who worked at the dealer that sold some of them including this one (to the original owner who I bought it from) told me this
