I know this means that an actuator for one side of the air conditioner is out, but is there a way a dealer can find a trouble code for it being broken/stuck?

i believe you have 5 actuators. 3 behind the dash and 2 behind the right rear quarter panel for the rear a\c.

behind the dash you have
1) Recirculation/Air Inlet Actuator
2) Mode Door Actuator
3)Temperature Door actuator

this is for the automatic a/c and heat controls though. also dont kno if it makes a difference but i have the digital controls as well. im not sure if its all the same or even if its the same for 01. i believe the 01 is different but i could be wrong.

There should be one for the driver and another for the passenger side. But is there any way this could throw a code?

If it does throw a code, only the dealer will be able to read it with a Tech 2. A code reader will only read engine codes.

I know that. I want to know if it is possible to throw a code even for that
