On our old muscle cars we had two things that kept the thieves from taking them, the first was a kill switch to the fuel pump. Thieves were always busting the columns but they never got a car more than a block away from the house.

Yep, had a kill switch on my Silverado as well.

Wait. You don't have one on your new rides? Why not? I am looking into putting one on the fuel pump though. It always made the thieves think that they got away with it. For about a block or so. And, with electric fuel pumps, it's a snap. I just need to sit down and figure out the wiring.

My favorite though (on my motorcycle and used to use it on older, simpler vehicles) was to switch the hot leg from the ignition to the horn. Every time they tried to crank it to start, the horn would give them away!

Not yet. The truck has a factory alarm and not sure how those are defeated to steal the truck and if it would interfere with my plans for the ignition kill.

I've done it. As long as you are not cutting any wires for the factory system, you're good. You could even do a hybrid of my horn/ignition alarm. Just add your own switch, relay and a spare horn/siren and put into the ignition wire.
