Are there any known issues with the radio power (switched and/or constant) circuit in the OBS Tahoe/Yukons? I have had several Kenwood head units that go into protection mode in this Tahoe. Usually this indicates a short in the speakers, but they will do it with no speakers attached, just the powers and ground. I've been buying used older head units because I have an older satellite receiver with a life time subscription that will not work with the newer model radios. I'm thinking of retiring that satellite receiver to another DVD system in the RV and replacing everything with new gear, but killing of new equipment with badly regulated power doesn't seem like much fun either. Anybody have any experiences like this?

no tsb but it does not preclude that a wire fault may exist. would need more detail on your protection mode and how it responds and react to what.

Judging by the 60 or so views and no replies other than yours, I think the problem is with the head units. I seem to recall reading something about the protection circuits becoming hyper-sensitive in some of the Kenwoods. I just wanted to see if somebody else had experienced something similar happening in there Tahoe without getting specific.

Well, despite my best judgement, I took the plunge and installed a new head unit and satellite receiver. Here hoping for the best. Tell me more about the circuit you're proposing? I was thinking of just throwing a pair 12v zener diode across both powers to the ground. Maybe a little be higher voltage if I thought I needed it for better power to the chip amps in the head unit.
