I have a 2021 Yukon Denali. Before today, when turning the car off, the radio and lights would turn off when the driver door was opened. Today we ran a short trip and all of a sudden the radio won’t turn off when the door is open. Anyone else have this issue? Worried about my battery dying.

Wanted to add that I can also now turn the radio on without the car being on or in accessory mode. Car off, hit radio power button and turns on.

Check for a software update. My 2020 Sierra and Acadia do the same thing when theres an update pending. Worth a shot to check in settings.

I just checked and update is greyed out but it lets me select it but it just pops up a message that says conditions are not ideal and to check next time to vehicle is in park. I turned the car on and off 4 or 5 times and in and out of park, etc and got the same message each time.

I’m not sure if it matters, are you connected to wifi? I usually do the updates when I park in the driveway and connect to the house Wi-Fi

Yes, am connected to my home Wi-Fi. I have to drop a friend off at the airport tonight, that’s if my battery isn’t dead by then. I manually turned the radio and lights off but no idea what else may be running/draining the battery, and will try it connected to my phone hotspot on that drive since it will be about an hour with the car in the whole time.

it took me a few days to figure out that was my issue, I think everything eventually turns off because next time I’d get in, radio is off

my Mom had this problem with her equinox. Drained the battery completely. Recharged battery when I noticed it. Car was kept in a garage.
after I got the battery charged. I parked car outside. When I came back, everything was off. And the car would act normally again.

Definitely think you are right that it’s a software update issue. Today when I ran a short errand, about 5 mins away, I parked and hit engine off butting and a message popped up on screen to install an update. I hit OK and it started but after about a min it gave an error that it failed and try again later. I went into setting and hit the update button and got the same not optimal time and try again later as original message. Tried 10 mins later at time as well and same message. Is there a manual update method like on a USB and a place to grab the files?

I THINK only manual way is through the dealership service department. They likely have a website to download the firmware/software update and then usb load it
