It wasn't really to focus of my post to create a discussion of Rain-X but now that we have one going I will share my experience with Rain-X.

I tried it about 10 years ago and it generally worked well for shedding water quickly but it drove me crazy when driving at night because of excessive glare from oncoming headlights.

Has anyone else had the same experience? And, is there anything one could do to prevent it?

I have used RainX for years an never noticed the glare, but I never really thought about it either. I will be paying attention to it now and see if I notice excessive glare.

I've never had good luck with RainX on my street cars, the wipers always seem to smear the RainX. But I do like it a lot on my race car for two reasons- 1) I only have one wiper on the 911 and really don't need it with RainX at 100+, and 2) it makes it much easier to clean bugs and oils off the windshield after a day of racing.

FWIW, I still use it on the side windows of my Denali. Actually makes the snow fall off quicker.

i dont like rain x for the sheer reason when you use the wipers it streaks. I did however try the new version that came out, the glass cleaner with rainx and its far better than the old stuff.

FWIW I unplugged the sensor on my '09 several weeks ago when it started going crazy and turning the wipers on high speed with just a few drops of rain. I never liked the way the rain sensing worked, there was no way to control how it operated, so now I have full control of the wipers. Now if they worked like my 14 year BMW where the rain sense only works on the slowest of the intermittent settings I'd be a lot happier.

Both my 07's rainsense wipers work on the slowest speed when it's just drizzling... Something must be up with yours.

I'm curious if you can retro fit as well. My dads new truck doesn't have them and thats his biggest complaint. He really liked them on his previous trucks.
