if you did have the money, i pray you would have the brains not to put THAT in your tahoe! lol I know there were diesel tahoes made with that motor but they werent very impressive (mileage or power). I looked into it for a while and it seems the cummins 12v is the most popular and ive even heard of duramax builds but they were droppin some serious cash!

That's the right year for the 6.5...good year for the block and second year for the electronic fuel injection. I had one in an extended long box 4wd 2500 pickup with a 4:10 gear set and it would get about 15mpg around town and 20ish (usa gallon) on the highway...the truck weighed three tons.

They weren't bad motors so long as you treated them like a medium duty diesel. I sold it with over 150k miles and the compression was still over 400 in each cylinder...ran into lots of people with 3-400k miles on a 6.5.

That said, a cummins is fine too.
