Time for a big block swap. You know you wanna...

too essspensive to build :(

i started just breaking down the block , need to pull the crank pull to get the crankshaft out. timing chain isnt broken but crank spins (spins chain) but camshaft doesnt turn- can see a piece of connecting rod wedged between it and the block. so not sure if it sheared off the bolt/pin or something within the vvt actuator broke. not sure what the dry/empty weight of it is but may just throw on a cheap stand and use for mocking up some things on the top end

something else thats been bugging me is the way the manifold/downpipe/waste gate all line up. theres a flex bellow on the wastegate that i think stretched out after it got hot or something and its a pita to get it all together and you have to start with leaving the downpipe so loose to get everything together that it never seals fully. so im going to try and clamp the bellow back together using some small vband clamps on each end and see if i can get it to shorten up

if its worth doing, its worth over doing :deal:

nah kinda went like this dollar wise:

-junkyard 4.8/5.3 will be absolutely beat to death and not last long - id be changing them monthly which is the part i hate the most... moneys just money, having to swap engines is a pain
-low mile pullout 6.0 (was only other choice i was really considering) - might last a while (year+/-) where boost is at the moment but no more
-mild l92 or 6.0 build not really that much more capable than iron 6.0 pull out but more expensive
-wild 370/408/resleeved 416 or something like that for 1200hp would be on the edge of where turbo/fuel i have now can do.
-lsx/dart block - only ended up being about $1k more than iron 370/408/416 max effort, should laugh at turbo and fuel system i have now which = last a couple years so long as i take care of it.

Some quality oem parts...
Started ordering everything so I could button this up and get it back in. I'm really only ordering gm/ac delco at minimum unless parts need to be specifically something else. But this is pretty bad. Oil pan, correct part number for my Yukon, has gm stamped in the side.
Shows up box is ****** mangled, half the bolts have fallen out on the way here- not really a big deal I have plenty of bolts. Take it out, looks like somthing someone returned, grease smudges all over it, gasket a little rough... I'm still in it, let's just get this crap done. Start looking at the pan casting and its just crap, that close-up pic is on the inside of the pan, one spot looks like someone welded it back together and I still tried to push through and use it, but I just cant.
