Is there a live mpg screen on the '21 like on the '19, all I find is an average mpg on the trip screen
It's the same screen where you get the controversial 50 mile best number from. I had to go through the settings and turn it on as it wasn't appearing when I'd toggle through the different options. I changed mine to record the best from 450 miles, which is about the fuel range of a 5.3 (mine says 475 when full) and after 275 miles it says the best is 21 mpg. This tank of gas the average has been hovering right around 18.2 so slightly better than the lifetime average that remains dead on at 17.5

18.1 average on that last tank and after filling up tonight the range has gone up a bit to 503 miles. 87 octane no name gas from the local farmers co-op

6.2L Z71 about 250 miles on the odometer, looks like I am getting low 16's mpg on my commute (75/25 highway/backroads). Not too bad.

It is my first tank of gas though and i am suspicious my ignorant sales person filled it with regular instead of premium... Filled it myself for the first time yesterday so lets see if there is any improvement.

Either way all the idling from messing with the settings has destroyed my "lifetime" average...

Just took my first “road trip” in what I would call summer-like conditions. 200 Miles from Rochester MN to Near Willmar MN, mix of divided highways and 2 lane highways, plus through the Minneapolis/St Paul area on I-494. Not much wind, generally flat terrain, temp 78F

Avg: 20.8 MPG. 54.5 MPh. 92 Octane from Costco. More than pleased with this.

5.3 SLT with 8k miles, overall average 17.5 but reset for recent road trip to Vermont from Virginia with some pretty aggressive speeds and return load of college girl crap.....averaged 21.5. I was pleased. I also use regular gas, just 87. The engine seems to be getting better, smoother now that we have a few miles on it. I don't know if this makes sense, but feels like I get better mileage from top grade stations--exxon, mobile--than Sheetz and WaWa gas. I have some empirical data but done by the seat-o-the pants....Its as good or better than our 2011 v6 Honda Pilot.

Many posts have indicated the only “real” way to check your mileage is using your Casio calculator and fuel receipt. The info screens only give you a warm fuzzy feeling, kinda similar to the feeling your salesperson gave you as you left the lot.

I didn't use a casio, I used the calculator built in my iPhone, but that calc was as follows:

487.4mi/23.4gal = 20.83 MPG, my ride said 20.7, I'll chalk up the difference in the small variance in how much fuel added, and to whatever degree the onboard is not accurate.

BTW, the ECM knows exactly how much fuel is injected into the engine (knows how much fuel per injection, and counts injections), and the odometer is probably pretty accurate, so my assessment is that the onboard computer is pretty close...validated by this calculation.

My boat's ECM calculate's fuel used, and is usually within 0.1gal of what I add, on a regular basis...
Net, I think this tech is pretty well hashed out by now.
