Real Life MPG 5.3 / 6.2

Just curious…do most here leave the auto start/stop enabled or disabled?

I had disabled it each time I started it for the past year, but now that I had the lifter issue and only half were replaced I’ve been leaving the auto-stop enabled. One side effect of doing that is I am seeing better mileage in town due to leaving it enabled.

I tend to do mostly in-town driving, so while it’s not a huge jump it’s roughly about 1-1.5 MPH better compared to disabling auto-stop each time.

I reported in another thread that we did a 500 mile highway trip last week. 16mpg with our 2022 Denali 6.2 while driving 75-80mph. All things considered, I am OK with that.

I've never disabled mine, and I do believe it does help the economy...although it is annoying at times.

Ever since the gas price hike I’ve been using it, why not since I have it.

6.2L ‘21 Denali here, just did a trip to NYC about 375mi round trip. I fill 93 octane. I also have auto stop eliminator installed, got 18.6mpg while driving to NYC mostly highways at 80-85 mph. On way back got stuck in bumper to bumper traffic multiple times, it dropped mpg to 17.7. AC was running all thru the drive.

We just took a 500 mile round trip over the cascade mountains here in soggy wetter than normal WA state. Wife and I with our 2 kids, 3rd row folded down and loaded with all kinds of camping gear, cooler, firepit, fold up table, yard games, etc with a huge heavy bike rack hanging off the rear with 5 bikes. Could definitely feel the extra weight we were hauling around. Speeds averaged anywhere from 55-80 and according to the dash readout I got 17.6 mpg on the way there with regular gas (that matches our 14K mile lifetime average that is dead on 17.6) and I filled up with premium on the way home just for kicks and got a whopping 17.9 so clearly no difference but wasted money

2021 Tahoe 4WD with 5.3 and 8,200 miles.

Best MPG I’ve seen is 22.3 but the wind must’ve been pushing me that day.

I typically drive on town on short trips and average about 12 MPG. When I warm up the car on cold winter days when the temp is near zero that drops down to about 10 MPG.

that is about as good as metro driving you can get 13mpg on 5.3 of any model year for GM, except the hybrid models

I drive about 60 miles to and from work every day. I pass 13 traffic lights each way with the longest segment of the drive, about 60% with no traffic lights. My overall combined mileage on the dash hovers between 18.0 and 20.5mpg. I may have actually seen it read 21mpg. I believe I have it set to last 50 miles. On some days the trip planner or trip function will show 22mpg for the current drive. I put it on cruise and leave it at 55mph. I was cruising at 65 but our bud JB has forced me to drive slower to get the max fuel range out of it. 55mph is 10mph slower but only extends my drive a few more minutes longer, so why not?
