really confused about new egr valve

i was throwing a bad egr code and decided to replace the valve with a new one. took out th old one and put in the new one, no big deal. after that when the rpms were at about 1K it would jump and act like it was stalling... took out new egr and put the old one back in and it ran great except its still throwing the egr code...

im really confused about this what does it mean?

I think there were two different types:

• Port EGR Valve
• Negative Backpressure EGR Valve (TBI)

Are you sure you got the right one?
I could be wrong though.
