Really loud creaking from rear

Hi guys,

I have a conundrum. I've got really loud creaking from somewhere in my rear end. This creaking happens over bumps of any kind. It's not as much a squeak, but a loud creaking, and sometimes it even screeches.

I tried everything I could possibly think of:

1. Soaked every single rubber thing I could find under the rear end with white lithium grease. This includes sway bar bushings, suspension components, mounts, everything.
2. Pulled back all the rear trim and put padding between the clip mounts.
3. Made sure everything was secure and not moving/rattling around.
4. Checked the roof rails to make sure they are secure and not loose. They are.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me? This is driving me insane.

I'm not sure what you mean; the body and taillight are all one piece; the entire taillight piece is actually screwed into the glass hatch from behind.

Ok thanks so much for clarifying. If that's it, what can I use to stop it from rubbing against the glass?

Well obviously it shouldn’t be touching, which means something is broke. On mine there is a tab (inside the wing) that holds that back “wing” away from the window. My tab is broke, I only noticed it once you remove the taillight you can see up in there.
Also if you remove the taillight you will see an additional screw holding that “wing” in place, you could try to back off the screw, push the wing over and re tighten it.

when you did your sway bar bushings did you actually unbolt them and grease inside the bushing> or did you spray something on the outside only?

I sprayed on the outside, but then I got under the truck real close and stuck the grease nozzle (the pinpoint one) directly into the crevices I could and soaked them both.

By the way, are those sway bar bushings, or sway bar to frame bushings?

I just checked this. The tabs are not broken, and the trim pieces have an equal gap on each side; they are NOT touching the glass.

There called D bushings because there shaped like a D, you should have the truck on the ground or on ramps when unbolting them, jacking It up will put pressure on the sway bar. the bushings have a cut in them so they can just slide off the sway bar, they should be removed and greased inside where they go around the sway bar (doesn't hurt to put grease on the bar it 'self in the same spot) and put back on, it's a 10-15 minute job, when you put the bolts back in put some blue threadlock on them so they don't work there way loose down the road.
