I removed the yellow plastic bowtie about a year ago to expose the chrome. Now, I want to replace the yellow bowtie but I threw it away. Anyone have one sitting around or any ideas on locating one besides the dealer?

The yellow bowtie is not really its own part with a unique part number. They are very easy to break so you'd be lucky to find someone with theirs intact.

If not the dealer, you could always look on eBay or GMPartsDepartment.com, and I use car-part.com sometimes because salvage yards tend to have excellent condition (and sometimes brand new) OEM parts for insanely cheap.

But, removing and installing a new rear hatch cover (the part with the yellow bowtie) is pretty much an impossible thing to do, with the way it is bolted in there with Safe-Loc (or something like that) bolts. Even if you ripped that thing off with your own bare hands, the bolts would be in there and impossible to remove. Some members have had it done, like Modded, so they might know more about it. But my dad could not do it for me when I wanted to install the Yukon applique, and he's owned auto body shops for over 40 years.

You have to replace the whole emblem but not the entire applique. GMpartsdirect.com has it for $36. If you go to the part catalog and click on rear lift gate then select exterior trim you will find the part in the illustration (product #3). You can find a few posts with instructions on how to remove, but a hair dryer and plastic putty knife and ten minutes did me just fine.

Thanks for the heads up on that site. I just prices a new front emblem due to a stone chip and I was quoted 125.00 at the GM dealer...However, I was told on the side that when and I say when they peel which almost all do up here in Canada, they fall under warranty.. Perhaps the Power sprayer would speed the process up so I better stay away from that :evillol:
