Hello to a fellow SEATTLEite! Without question the BENCH! There's a reason why bench seats sell more quickly. They are more desirable for people with families which is the target market for these vehicles. Get the Bucket seats if your a business professional that drives clients around or have older kids or are a soon to be empty-nester. If you have kids in carseats, I would highly recommend a bench because without it (1) you are always committed to using the 3rd row. And (2) ever try to take care of a fussy little one while having to stand outside the vehicle? The bench gives you the option of having a place to sit while taking care of a kid. If you have more than 3 kids I would also recommend the bench seat because you can still haul them around without the 3rd row. Don't know if your like us but kids always have their friends with them and the extra seat is nice to have. I'm assuming if you're getting a Denali you'll have the automatic folding feature for the 60/40 split bench which is really convenient. I have a friend who purchased a vehicle with buckets, without thinking, after having the bench in their previous vehicle, and they greatly miss having the bench.

I have had Both Setups.

Bench ALL the way.

You fold that third seat up for luggage, and you have room for only 3 passengers without the driver.

Went through the same thing when looking for my Denali. But in my case I absolutely wanted the 2nd row bench for the kids. My 10 yr old daughter gets carsick easily but if she sits in the middle of the 2nd row she can see ahead and doesn't get queezy as fast. I also like being able to let the dog sit on the seat and still have room for 2 more people in the back.

The challenge was finding a Denali that had a bench in the second row. I looked for months and finally gave up a sunroof to get a bench in a color combination I liked. Maybe I'm just an old guy, but I don't get the whole idea of having a big SUV that only seats 4 people if you don't use the 3rd row. And with the power folding split 2nd row bench, it's just a push of the button to gain access to the 3rd row seats when I have them in. Are the 2nd row buckets power folding too?

I got the buckets and was worried i would need the third row just in case, but i realized i can just fold the third row standing up, so i got trunk space and a third row, love the buckets

I have a 13 month old and a second baby girl due in february and have the captains chairs in my escalade. I wish I had the bench instead of bucket seats actually... with all that you have to haul around I'd go with the bench. Also, I don't know about you, but we keep a stroller in the back of the esky at all times so that takes up half the cargo area, and I have half of the third row seats still in there. So basically there isn't much room left.

2nd row buckets do power-fold on the NNBS Denali.

Thanks again for all the responses! All the information is really appreciated.

Unfortunately, I am going to stay away from the large versions (XL & Suburban) because I live in the city near the University of Wash. It's going to be a bit difficult dealing with the Yukon for the next couple years until I move out of the city. The large ones would be a nightmare.

I will admit after getting a little bit of sticker shock, I started looking at the New Durango's with the Hemi. They are cheaper and still pretty well equipped. I just can't get over how much the back end looks like a mini van :). Plus, I just really like the Yukon Denali's, so I am staying on that track.

I understand the urge to buy new, but I bought an 07 Escalade (not ESV) about 2 months ago. I looked for a while, but I wanted a black on black Escalade only. I found one with 64,000 miles and was able to get it for $28k.

In the past I have looked new because the prices weren't too much better after looking at worse interest rates on used, but when I saw how the used trucks were almost 1/3 of the new sticker price, I changed my mind about buying used. A lot of the trucks that I looked at are still available now (2 months later) and prices continue to drop.

I bet if you have the time, and could live with buying used, you could probably buy a really nice Denali for the same price as a new Durango if not less... Just have patience and negotiate with out getting to attached to one car (there is always another one somewhere else).

Funny bc we were considering this exact same thing and although I thought the Durango Citadels were better equipped, we couldn't get over that ugly rear end.
