Rear door handle rod clip

After messing with the same clip for about 20 min, I find the solution.
Take the screws out of the door handle, then remove the 3 black screw on the side of the door holding the actuator. Once removed, this will give you enough play to slide the old door handle off, and slide the new one on. No need to remove the pesky clip.

this...anyone have a part # or item name for this yellow clip, I destroyed mine in the process.

Got tired of trying to pry open the hidden locking tab on the "shaft lock". Decided I would simply remove the entire "door lock mechanism" (three Torx bolts) which had the shaft lock attached. I removed the shaft lock from the door lock mechanism. This gave me access to inspect the shaft lock and I easily unhooked the aberrant locking tab. Replacement: I loosely reattached the lock mechanism to the door. I then reinserted the shaft lock (used a little soap) into its hole in the lock mechanism. Tightened everything and the nightmare was over.

So I actually found it easier to remove the clip instead of opening it at its hinge. Its a ***** either way but I was able to do it for both rear door handles just using my fingers. Also, its a quick change on the new handle then right back in place. It clips back into the metal housing quite easily when reinstalling.

My '13 has this style. It turned out to be very easy with finger pressure, versus the screwdriver to pry them on my '11.

Another problem with these clips is when they get old and worn out they don't want to snap/lock shut. So you will have to do this unless you can find a new one:

I appreciate those of you who posted to this thread. I have a 2012 Silverado and while replacing the front passenger door handle, I broke the locking loop on the yellow clip (same as shown here). I was using the how-to video from 1aauto.com and they must have had the old style clip because in the video it just popped open.

Haven't been able to find a way to order the clip by itself and not willing to shell out for a whole new latch assembly, so will go the zip tie route. Thanks!

Anyone ever figure out the part number for this damn clip. My 2011 Escalade had the old style, my 2012 platinum has this style. Needless to say I butchered one beyond zip tie fixable and can no longer open my door from the exterior

Did you look on gmpartsgiant?

There is another member on here that is good at looking up GM parts numbers but I forget his tag.
