OK guys been a bit since I've been on here. I've been considering getting new rear end gears so I can get a little more get up and go on my 99 yukon. Been thinking 3.73. Or even a whole new rear end with 3.73. Any good brands or opinions on this? Like what would fit and be a good choice. I'm still new to doing all this and don't have anyone to teach me so I'm trying to learn myself

Double check your build code but mine stock were 3.42 gears. If you're just gonna do 3.73, then it really isn't worth it.

Personally, I went with AAM gears for my truck after the lift because I was able to get a good deal on OE replacements. The majority of gears out there are of quality. Also, I had a Trutrac to throw in for replacement of that G80 too.

The main thing is having a competent tech do the work thoroughly.

You didn't mention if yours was 4x4 or not. If so, then you need to regear both the front and rear.

Mines just 2 wheel. And I'll have to check my build code. I just had a buddy who races his truck tell me getting some 3.73 would help get me going a little quicker.

It would help, but also keep in mind that you'd have to reflash the PCM to account for the new gears......shift points, speedometer, etc....Blackbear Performance could do this easily or even someone with tuning software suite. Of course you'd have to pay for the license.

I've been thinking about a black bear tune when income tax rolls around. This might be a dumb question but where or how do I find the build codes to figure out my gearing?

Glove box door sticker. The code begins with the letter G. It's listed with all the other 3 digit alphanumeric RPO's on the white sticker. Post all the G codes here.

4.10 would wake it up but will lose some top end with stock size Tire. But will help a lot with acceleration.
