Anyone out there have ideas on why my tahoe is suddenly making loud rear end noise? When I hit around 50mph it gets loud and stops about 30mph. I don't see anything rubbing and nothing seems abnormally hot.

My 07 needed a complete rear end because of noise. Bearings were all spun and shot, backlash was awful. Cheapest solution was to throw a rebuilt used rear end in it. Best to have a rear end guy drive it. If they're good, they'll know exactly what it is when they hear it.

When was the last time the fluid was changed?

I would guess pinion bearing.

Luckily I caught mine right after I bought it from the dealer. The dealer tried to tell me it was normal, so I brought it back to them 3 times the same week until they fixed it. They replaced both pinion bearings and actuator and some other things as well.
