Hello, I have a 95 Tahoe and for the year and change I have had it there is always a humming sound coming from the rear end starts around 45 or so, so when I first got it had the rear end drained refilled and put a new gasket on along with the front diff and transfer case and read online that that humming sound is a common problem and the only way to get rid of it is to rebulid the rear end so the last week its making another sound when I come to a stop (it doesnt do it all the time) it kinda sounds like a groan/whine thats the only time it makes it and its coming from the rear end no other noises other than that or the humming no sounds letting off the gas or anything else, checked the wheel bearings out and the appear to be good, so thinking it might be a carrier bearing? thanks for the help

Might have a bad u joint in the rear drive shaft causing the vibration noise. Or driveshaft itself might need to be balanced. Just changed out all u joints and had driveshaft balanced on my 96. Low and behold, drive shaft had a slight twist in it. Some time during its life somebody hit something with it. All fixed now.

its not really a vibration sound, it has always made the humming sound over 45 or so and this whine is only when u come to stop going above 30ish besides that you never hear it, and it makes no sounds letting of the gas or in reverse, the u-joints should be good had a bad one and the rest were checked out too this was like a month or so ago.

Update: ended up being now fluid in the rear end and I blew it, had it in the shop to replace the pinion seal and when they were doing that one of the axle seals when so they did both of those two and basiclly never checked the fluid level so they gave me the 1700 to have it rebulit and its in the shop getting that done, should have it back this week, just waiting on parts.
