I finally got my wireless headphones to work! They do work when there are some red/infrared dots visiable on the rear transmitter of the overhead DVD player console.

NOW, my dilema is that these darn infrared dots are visible at times and the headphones work, some other times the dots are NOT visible and therefore the headphones DO NOT work.

Is there a button on the Radio/Head Unit in the drivers console to turn the infrared transmitter on/off? For the life of me I can not figure out why these darn red dots show up at times and the headphones work, other times they do not light up and therefore the headphones will NOT work?????

Is the infrared transmitter/sensor broke maybe? Is there a fix WITHOUT having to put a new DVD Overhead console into the truck?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

JochenWoern,

How are the batteries in the headphones?

First check that the batteries are fully seated in the correct position in the wireless headphones. (Partially seated batteries may cause the reception/signal to cut in out). If this does not correct the issue, then replace the batteries with a new set and ensure the correct seated position. If a concern still exists, there may be an issue with the IR emitter of the unit or the headphones may need to be replaced. Please consult with your local dealer for additional assistance.

I hope this information is helpful. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact me privately.

Batteries as well as Headphones are both brand new!!!

I did consult the dealer, but of course at that time the infrared buttons on the overhead console were on and all worked as it should.

As stated in my original post, I do not believe the issue to be with the headphones, as when the dots on the transmitter on the overhead console are lit, the head phones work each and every time.

SERIOUS? Take a closer look and let me know. You will have to sit in the back row, looking close to the DVD Player and see the dots lit up in the dark red area at the top rear of the DVD Overhead Console.

Even the dealer told me it would not work if it is not lit up.

That is truly WEIRD and I am getting frustrated.

JochenWoern,

Another thing to consider is the Parental Control being activated and deactivated without realizing it. I encourage you to check out pages 316 through 327 of the owner's manual. If this isn't the issue, I suspect the emitter may need to be replaced.

For your convenience, a digital copy of the manual is available at: http://www.extendedgmwarranty.com/owners-manual/chevrolet/2007-Chevrolet-Suburban.pdf (pages 331 through 343 of the digital copy).
