I would like to know if it is possible, and how much trouble it would be to install a rear entertainment system into my 2001 Tahoe LT? I was looking to go with the stock style flip down from say a 05-06. Thanks for any help.

03-06 wiring is completely different then 00-02, so that won't work. Cheapest thing is just do an aftermarket overhead.

In my 2004 Yukon XL Denali I installed an Alpine IVA-D310 DVD player where the 6 disc cd changer was in the middle console by the cigarette lighter. I also installed an Alpine TV player where my regular radio was and I use that just to play movies on from my Alpine D-310. Along with the D-310 I installed an IPod connector so I can control it from my D-310, also I installed an IVA-M300 which is an alpine Navigation, plus I installed a rear view Camera that is also ran through the D-310. In the back I installed a 21" LCD? With a roll back moon roof I installed a flip down 21" LCD screen. I needed to build brackets to mount it so its not in the way of the moon roof sliding back on the inside roof and that worked great.

I also installed in my 2005 Pontiac Bonneville GXP I installed a w505 Alpine DVD player head unit with Navigation and I installed 9.5" head rest monitors on both back head rests. I did all of this on my own and its a lot easier than it sounds.

But now your question are you looking for a monitor that plays DVD's on it or would you like a head unit that plays the DVD on all screens. On the DVD head unit and the flip down LCD or the head rest LCD. On my Yukon I can have the kids watch a movie in the back and the D-310 plays the movie but I can view the Navigation and the screen where the stock radio went it plays the movie also. If were are all watching the movie the navigation lets us know over the speakers when we are close and need make a turn or exit at a certain exit. There are so many options but if you just looking for a head mount that plays DVD's for the kids its a very easy mount. Purchase the unit from EBay and unwire you middle dome light and wire the DVD player on to those existing wires and make sure that you have the DVD wired to the ignition wire so its on when the car is turned on or in acc. Position. Mount it to you ceiling by using a couple 2x2 boards and make sure you have a good mount and then starting installing the power to the DVD player. If you need help with any three installs please let me know

The Systems I have in my Yukon Denali and my Pontiac GXP I can watch movies while driving with a PAC 7 override install allowing me to watch and drive!. Please let me know what you would like and I can help you with any DVD application you want installed. I hope this helps and I can help walk you through the installation also.

It mounts up easy and you can play dvd's and it has input for a video game system and it also is an easy install. I hope my recommendations help out because I know how nice it is to have the kids quiet and entertained on long drives or even if its an 1 hour drive its worth it Take Care
