Rear Hatch issue

Since we bought our Tahoe, '08 LTZ, the rear window has never worked....with the remote or manually....just cant pop the back glass....any suggestions other than popping all the trim and testing the electronics?.....any write-ups on how to actually remove the plastics to gain access to the mechanism for releasing the glass?....the hatch works perfect....thanks in advance
