Rear Hatch open button fracture lines?

our 2021 Yukon, 22 Z71 and now our 23 have had those lines in the tailgate...pictured is our 23

On a side note:
1. The rear hatch side trims, are they supposed to be connected? Trim pieces seem busted… powered hatch functions fine though…


2. Rear hatch tail lamp seem out of alignment now with the main body tail lamp… is this within spec?? Left side now seems to be off 1/8 or 1/16”, right side looks tolerable.

My 22 SLT has these, it's just part of the molding. Kinda ugly yeah, but shouldn't affect anything.

Was hit when I was fully stopped during a stop and go traffic flow. Yukon had 100mi on it and only was 10days old

Ouch.

To be honest, I can’t see much damage from your photo. The other guy definitely got the worse end of the deal.

Looking at the various lines on the liftgate and the corresponding lines on the corners, it doesn’t appear to my untrained eye that anything is really out of alignment. At least not enough, in my opinion, to cause the interior trim pieces to break, but I could be wrong. The various photos of the interior trim pieces appear to me to show factory edges on the pieces and not cracks. It may have popped some mounting tabs on the backside to cause the piece to be able to flex a little.

Have you had an insurance adjuster or body shop look at it yet?

I’m scheduled to talk to the insurance agent and body shop on Monday morning.

The top left does appear to be out of alignment more so then the right side.
