Hello All, Good Mornin! I am having issues with my tahoe and not sure what to do next. Couple days ago all was fine except my rear heater core line busted at the the quick connect.

I replaced but it leaked alot of fluid, like maybe 2 plus blocks worth. A trail all the way up to the house. So i filled with cap open hoping it would burp itself and it would fill. But instead its filling back up into the resivor and overheat. It was late so i just shut it off for the night.

Today fluid was low so i thought great, id just fill again and let it cycle through. Well it's filling up in the resivor again and has no heat. It started to overheat again. I left the cap off for maybe 15 min and put it back on when the resivor was full. I thought it would burp itself to get the air bubble out but now I'm just not sure what to do. I would Greatly appreciate any and all help. Thank you very much in advance!

Bleed it; link to procedure below. Sometimes it helps to do this with the front end raised higher than the rear end.

So I'm attempting this now the res is full, vehicle at temp and upper hose is cool to touch, resivor is filling up, heater is cool and set to 90

Everything was fine till the line broke off I guess. Thermostat, pump etc. Now just seems like all the pressure is building up and wanting to push out through the resivor. When i put the cap on and let it run its the same senerio and now there's a tick like sound all when is starts heating up. The top hose starts warming up when I replace cap but not really hot air through the vents

When you do the bleed be sure to set both front and back temperature settings to full hot. Not the HVAC fans, the temp settings.

Ok Thank you I will make sure to check that. Would it matter if the rear heater was working or not? I never really have used the rear heater, I'm not sure if it works. I know the fans work cause it blows air so just asking in advance?

I tried a few times to let it cool off and try again but still end up with the same senerio (Res fills, overheats, upper hose is cool) so i just tore it all down.

I recently had the engine swapped out and it ended up being a sketchy deal. I just had bought a brand new pump and installed I asked him to swap a few things out I dont feel he did any of it and kept ALL my parts.

So I'm figuring the heck with it, warranty out the pump, new fluid, replace thermostat, etc.

I tested the thermostat and my dad thinks it was stuck open. I guess it could be quit a few different things.

Change your thermostat, drill 2- 3/32 holes 180 degrees apart on thermostat before install and you wont have bleeding issues.

UPDATE:
9.18.2020

Hello, Thanks for everyone's help Greatly Appreciated! Yesterday was spent replacing water pump, new thermostat, hoses reciently changed, etc and putting all back together. Added 2 gal coolant total through the water pump and radiator. I raised the front end up but still the same outcome. At 1st the upper hose wasnt warming up at all till after a few attempts. The hoses to the heater core are warm. But it is still overheating and coolant doesn't seem to be flowing through correctly from the resivor through the radiator.

I had to zip tie quick connect that broke off in the rear cause I didnt have clamps so maybe that will help to fix. I'm also going to replace the resivor cap, buy coolant and rent a pressure test kit I hope not the issue but just check. @exp500 I sure will try this. Thank you for advice. @Fless Thanks alot for your advice im trying lol and 89Suburban Thanks for your support.
