I just purchased a 93' blazer sport and had to replace the rearend. While removing the rearend i found that i had a broken leaf spring on the passenger side. I had a pretty difficult time locating a set of springs via salvage yards so i decided to purchase a pair new.

Pro-comp makes a set of 52" springs that claim a 2" lift. So i purchased these and thought i would just do a key crank to help bring up the front.

The problem is i didn't measure what my fender height was before my swap. My rear fenders are now at 40 1/2" and my front with the keys maxed are at 36 3/4. I also noticed that with my keys maxed i am still an inch away from the bump stops. Could it be that my torsion bars are bad?

What would my options be for the front? I really dont want to hassle with shipping the leafs back so am i stuck getting a $500 lift for the front or is there an alternative somewhere that would help me?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Sounds like the bars are worn. On our model trucks the keys are indexed to allow a full crank to the stops. But this will not level the truck. I think you need a true lift to make that happen at this point.

Give them a chance to settle some before you commit to anything.

Few options:

new torsion bars and hope for the best

purchase lowering shackles (counterproductive but cheap)

remove a leaf out of the pack, if nothing else pull the overload if you don't do any towing

Damn there isn't much traffic in here, just realized this post is a week old

New Torsion bars are on their way. First set sent back after i realized my Blazer doesn't share the same length bar as a Tahoe. Blazer has a 54" and the Tahoe i got were 52".

Once i get the bars in i was thinking about removing a leaf from the springs. My guess is the springs are rated for a heavier load than what i have and that's why im getting the almost 4" from them instead of 2". Never thought about the overload though. I will never tow anymore than a 4-wheeler. Hopefully my new bars will be in next week.

See when I replaced my stock springs with the 52" long 6" lift springs it added close to 8" to the height because the old srpings had sagged so much. I hope the new bars bring that front up enough with out having to crank too much. Keep us posted.

From whom did you order them? Did you buy original GM or aftermarket?

Nah sorry not new, just new replacement to me. I'm getting a used set from a auto recycling yard. Sorry for the confusion. New bars are $300 each, my brand spakin' used ones are $30 each.
