rear wiper stopped working 03 Tahoe

Hello all. Our rear wiper was working fine and now it stopped. Still makes a 'whirring' sound when the switch is used. Does it have a plastic gear in the motor case like some cars have on the windows?
Are the parts avalible at part stores or is it a dealer only item?

Just trying to get some direction before we start looking this weekend. Thank You.

I'm having a similar issue. Wiper will pop up but the motor makes a horrid grinding noise when you try to use it.

Update! we tried it one day during a rain shower and....it worked. I am wondering if it is the switch. I looked on Rock Auto website and it looks like the motor assembly is available. Shouldn't be that hard to swap out if it is the real problem.
