Rearview mirror radar detector wiring

Has anyone had success with attaching pins into a connector in the rearview mirror to power a radar detector? If possible I do like to avoid spending $100 on a connector adapter. Pictures or wire descriptions of a successful amount would be greatly appreciated. 2024 Tahoe high country.

I had a pin-connection wire from my previous, '09 Tahoe, and I thought I'd use it on my '23 Denali... But I went ahead and bought the adapter you're talking about. It's pretty fantastic, so I'd recommend it.
