I need a recommendation on whether to use a standard or heavy duty air filter on my recently purchased 2007 Yukon SLT. My primary objective is to find a filter that provides good air flow and filtering and does not reduce MPG. I have decided to purchase a WIX air filter so my only decision is whether to go with a standard WIX air filter (42487) or the heavy duty WIX air filter (42488). I mainly do city and highway driving and no off road or dusty areas. I thought a heavy duty filter would have more pleats, thus more surface area which would then provide better air flow.

Does anyone have any strong opinions on which air filter I should purchase? Appreciate your advice.

The best for your money would be the K&N replacement. Not only does it have superior filtering but you will also see add horsepower. Check out the K&N web site. If your wanting to really upgrade and add some pep go with the K&N cold air system change out. It will run a few hundred but you won't believe the difference. (NO I don't own any stock in K&N....just know a good product)
